Green Parrot Snake (Leptophis ahaetulla), Campanario, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. On multiple occasions we have found this species in a hibiscus hedge at the border between primary forest and a small garden plot. Spanish names are Bejuquillo verde, lora falsa gigante.

A Praying mantis that is a vine mimic. Sirena, Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica. I found this mantis in this position, in perfect late afternoon light. There are dry vines nearby that look exactly like this insect, but here it was clearly visible perched on a Lantana flower, perhaps waiting for a butterfly to visit. Copyright J.H. Marden.
